With the introduction of the XWGT Ford really stepped up the performance by introducing a 351 for the first time with an output of 290bhp. The styling also received a dramatic update with the super roo decal appearing for the first time. This model went on to become one of the most popular of all GT's. This model also facilitated the introduction of the famous HO option through which Ford planned to challenge and conquer Bathurst.
