MUSCLE CAR MASTERS 06'
Another Muscle Car Masters has come and gone and this year saw a vast improvement in the weather. Though something about last year left me feeling that day was the better of the two. The weather really did allow the cars on display and on track to shine all the better though and it was great to see all the cars turnout and be able to stay clean for the majority of the day till the wind picked up and started blowing the dirt down from the hills.
The skid pan area seemed less full this year than last and I think that can be contributed to the change in parking allocation. This year only clubs could park on the skidpan and enjoy the drive around the track. Single car entries and clubs that did not attend last year were given parking on the main straight hill and were not eligible for the parade laps. I think this hurt the overall numbers of display cars in the skidpan.
I didn't get to see much racing this year as with the weather being clear I spent a lot of time catching up with friends and sitting by the car just relaxing. Our parade lap was cut short due to an interesting decision involving the entertainment of the crowd that the organisers didn't appreciate although we had been told prior we could put on a show for the crowd, just no overtaking. So our group only managed a 1 lap dash so to speak. It was still enjoyable though.
Also, wit the sun beaming down I thought it a good idea to hunt down a Muscle Car Masters 06' hat as a souvenir but could not find any merchandise for the event anywhere. Maybe I missed it.
