DRIVE INN - NEWCASTLE CLUB
I was really looking forward to this run all week as I love events like this where we do something as a club like attend a drive inn meeting. Also, this is something that would have been frequented back in the days when these cars rolled off the production lines so it is sort of fitting.
After looking forward to it all week nature threatened to literally put a dampener on the day. All morning and after noon rain threatened and it actually did rain on the coast where I live. I spent all day fixing my windscreen wipers to be ready if it rained so nothing was going to keep me at home. The drive up to Newcastle went fairly smooth with only slight bouts of light rain that gave me a chance to test my wipers.
Arriving at the meeting point which for this run was at Glendale we found much to our surprise quite a good turnout of GT's but sitting along side them were a bunch of monaros. Apparently the day had been organised as a joint run with a NEwcastle Monaro club. We all set off and made the trek to the drive in where we were able to drive straight in via the exit road. We filled one entire row of parking spaces filled with 70's muscle. Luckily the rain stayed away and we were able to enjoy the three movies on show tonight. It was also great chatting to the monaro guys and it appears we will be looking to repeat this run in the future.
