GLOUCESTER RUN - NEWCASTLE CLUB

After a long break from going on runs due to the birth of our second child t was time to get back in the saddle. As usual the day before there was plenty of rain around but on the day it cleared so we set off for the meeting point. We arrived very early to find we were the first so we settled in for some brecky. By the time we finished our muffins some of the club had started to arrive. By the time we left there were about 7 cars attending the run.

We had been warned about the road to Gloucester and that it was pretty rough but it proved unfounded. Parts of the road were a little broken up but the majority of the way it was fine. Arriving at the Gloucester country club we stashed the pack in the car park and headed inside for some lunch from the Bistro. Although not a fast food joint they sure get their food cooked fast and onto the tables so it wasn't long before we were all enjoying our lunches and chatting about the usual things GT.

It was time to head off again and the plan was to head into Gloucester town and check it out. By the time we got the kids in the car the rest of the club was heading down the road but we had to call them back due to my auto transmission not feeling like going into reverse. It appears my months of not attending runs has also seen me neglect maintenance a little and the auto fluid was a little low. After a quick push backwards and a drive to the nearest servo for a topup the auto ran fine for the rest of the run. So after our cruise through the township we headed into Newcastle foreshore for a quick lap followed by a brief stop before we made our farewells and headed off.
