COMBINED CLUB DRAG DAY - EASTERN CREEK
What a great day. This time around the drag day was organised between GT club members, Chrysler club members and members of the Ford Forums. All up around 50 cars turned out for the day including some very quick 11 second cars and one car even managed to get into the tens which was a great run to watch from the start line.
It was a cool day from the outset with dark overhead clouds shielding us from the sun. So its no surprise that with those conditions a lot of the entrants ran personal bests making the day even better. Unfortunately several of the cars also required a tow home due to breakages but all entrants kept their cars off the walls.
Lunch was catered by the Rotary Club and I think they underestimated the amount of food required for the day as they ran out at 12pm before the lunch break and had to get some more brought in. Also there was a slight irritation early due to a double booking that meant we had to sit outside and watch a cycling event using the track meaning we didn't hit the track till about 10:30am, half an hour later than planned. But that's just an error from the WSID guys.
All in all a great day. Some controversy though with the organiser (fox) being banned from further participation in the event. After running three times into the 11's he was asked to finish up for the day. Blocker also living up to his recent reputation as a bad boy got himself on the wrong side of the officials again, this time due to leaking coolant over the track after busting a radiator hose. Then again when officials noticed dripping water from his car during a run.
I met more members from both the GT club and Ford Forums so it was great to put some faces to names even though with my memory I will have forgotten those names by now most likely. Looking forward to the next event.
